I figured I better post a video of me playing “Free Fallin” by Tom Petty instead of just making everyone take my word that I practiced it. The guitar sound really bad when I start strumming, so I need everyone to believe me when I say that it sounds so much better when its in person!! For this song I should have a capo placed on the third fret, but I dont have one so it doesnt sound as good as it should. O well, enjoy. I didnt play the whole song, just enough to show that I know it! Thanks again for following me on this experience. I appreciate all your comments.
Unfortunately, this will probably be my last video for my project. I have back to back finals in a couple days, so I wont have any more time to practice before everything is due.
I have dedicated so much time towards learning how to play guitar. I know I should have stayed focussed on one song, but lately I have been learning how to play different songs too. “Free Fallin” by Tom Petty is coming along nicely. It is a pretty easy song. Basically the only chord that is played is the D-chord. I have even been practicing chords that arent in the song “Be Like That”. I started out by just simply learning how to play the song, but after a while I realized that I wanted to learn how to do other stuff other than just play one song. If I would have simply stuck to the one song and just kept playing it I am sure It would sound great, but I think switching it up will benefit me more because I will have a wider range of skill now that I have practiced other things. One more thing, When I play the chorus in all of my videos it sounds good at the start, but then it dies of and doesnt sound good. I dont know what is wrong because I play the song for my roommates and they say it sounds good. When they watch the video, they say that the choruse sounds a lot different than when I play it in person. I struggled with the transitions and trying to get them to be smooth, and I succeeded in that aspect. Now all I have to do is practice playing the full length song and I will be better! (I still get cramps). Thank you for watching my progress; it was a great experience. Thanks for giving me an excuse to learn how to play guitar Alec! I am not going to stop blogging, and if you all keep following me, you will see more videos of me playing guitar. Thanks again…
P.S. I find the chair in my room to be extremeley awkward to play guitar in. Oh well!
Jonah Mowry posted this video at the end of summer. Take a look. It’s pretty moving. He has gotten some replies to his video too of people who were bullied and made it through. Almost like a replica of “It Gets Better”
Here is a response video, too
I came home after class today and wanted to try recording a video from my webcam on youtube. It didnt work before but it worked today! I hadnt praacticed or anything before I recorded this today so bare with me. Also the strings on the guitar are starting to get really loose, and it sounds diffferent in the chorus.
I have tried a lot of things to get the video and audio in sync, but I can not get it to work!! I have tried converting them into different formats and its a no go. Would any of you prefer if I just did audio? When I watch it the video just throws me off. Any suggestions?
I was talking to my mom last night and she was looking through my yearbook and saw pictures of me in a pink tutu and tight black spandex. She reminded me of the presentation me and my buddies did at our graduation christmas banquet. Some of you may have noticed when I comment on your posts that my picture is me in a pink tutu, well this is why!!!
